He was very friendly and professional, jumped under the house and assessed the situation within minutes. Then he gave me a detailed description of what he was going to do, the cost involved, and answered all of my questions and concerns. The day after thanksgiving, we had a large leak in the kitchen waste pipe that goes down through the garage, right next to the electrical panel. In short, an emergency. We didn't know the exact source of the leak or the difficulty of a remedy. We called Robinson's and about two hours Nigel showed up to help. Again, the day after Thanksgiving. The leak turned out to be a break in the pipe in a remarkably inaccessible spot as it passed through the subfloor of the kitchen. Had we waited through the weekend the consequences could have been severe. Nigel found the exact location of the break, fabricated a fix with a series of couplings that had to be assembled in place due to the turns and location, and had us good to go within the course if about 2.5 hours. What started out as a holiday disaster ended as a minor inconvenience. I can't recommend him enough.

Q: How much do tankless water heaters and installation cost?

A: Most residential tankless water heaters cost between $1,000 to $2,000 in materials. The installation runs anywhere between $2,000 to $4,000, provided that the new water heater is matched to the old system. The installation price will rise, however, if we need to install a gas line, new vent, or make other significant upgrades.

No job is too big for our experienced plumbers—the largest tankless system we installed was a commercial project for $17,000 that involved multiple heaters working together.

Q: Does Robinson’s Plumbing sell water heaters?

A: We only sell water heaters if you use us to install them. We’ll provide expert advice and help you select the right model to meet your needs. We will then install and warranty your new water heater.

Q: Should I opt for a gas or electric tankless water heater?

A: The choice between gas or electric tankless water heaters can affect your energy bill. If you decide to go with gas, keep in mind that if you don’t have a gas line that can supply sufficient BTUs to your new heater, your gas line will need to be upgraded. Electric tankless water heaters have lower heating capacities and are usually only suitable for one fixture group. There are trade offs with each, but we typically only recommend gas water heaters for whole house water heating.
